Restoring and Repainting a Signature Monster High Draculaura

Hey Guys! A couple weeks ago I came across a listing on an auction for a broken Draculaura. No one had bid on her (presumably because she was broken) and the seller said that after this auction if no one bid on her, she would not be re-listed (I assume this means she would be trashed). My heart immediately went out for this poor, neglected and mistreated doll. So, with free shipping, I bid two dollars on her.

She is a signature (original) Lala, but her hair was frizzy, her legs were broken, she was missing her arms and hands, and her face was partially rubbed off along with having a case of eye-wonk. Here she is:

Here you can see her broken legs, and below you can see her wonky eyes and scuffed lips.

First things first-- I needed to fix her legs. The previous owner had already tried to fix her and drilled two hole on both sides of her legs:

Luckily, this is what I would have had to do anyway,so she saved me a step (Though I probably would have drilled only one hole). Next I found two gauges of wire and tested both out. The thicker one fit snugly compared to the thinner one which was slightly loose, so I used the thicker wire.

After trimming the wire down to size, I super glued it into place.

Since I couldn't string her legs till the glue was dry, I wiped her body down with rubbing alcohol to get rid of any unwanted germs, residue and mold release.

I then Restrung her hips with elastic:

Next was her hair. I gave it a boil wash, and it looked much better, but I was unsuccessful in getting the bangs to lay flat like they would fresh from packaging. I took this opportunity to rip them out. I don't usually like bangs on dolls, and this Draculaura was no exception.

I added a few plugs of a black hank i had lying around, but funny enough the back I added has a brown base and the black hair she already has had a blue base. This ended up creating a really cool two toned black effect. You can see this if you look closely in the second picture.

After my order of new arms came in the mail, all that was left was to sew her a custom outfit and repaint her face.

When repainting I initially painted her eyes a dark brown, but it looked awful (real dingy and boring) so I changed it back to her fantasy shade of purple. I gae her shimmering silver eye-shadow, delicate eyelashes and intricate eyebrows (that, though you cant see much in these pics, are painted hair by hair). I then painted her lips a dark cherry red (or blood red--Hehe) and added some killer fangs. AND NOW SHE'S DONE!!!
